Life Is Changing – the covid-19 (deliberately written in lower caps) effect
I yearned for a break and wanted time to myself,
Now that I have don’t know how to handle it.
Life as I know is changing in more ways than I thought.
A little cough, a gentle sneeze,
Has had me nervous, had me edgy.
Touching between us is a thing of the past,
As we try to stay ‘healthy’ and protect each other.
Life as I know is changing in more ways than I thought.
Eating seems to be a solace, but what it’s doing to my girth
isn’t pleasant,
Going out has become a mission, almost war,
Sanitizer, mask, soap and water,
Oodles of suspicion, is now our ammunition.
Life as I know is changing in more ways than I thought.
The urge to hoard is always a whisper in my ear,
I struggle to shut it out, do what is right.
It’s not just about me and my family,
We’re all in it together,
Life as I know is changing in more ways than I thought.
Outside I see people still herding,
Around shops, vendors even out for walks,
The air is pregnant with our selfish motives,
But do we realise that we’re all in it together?
One infected can infect a lakh,
Life as I know is changing in more ways than I thought.
The enormity of it all can be overwhelming.
I pray we realise that we’re all in it together,
There’s still time to flatten the curve.
