"Sudama"
Mid-morning, I spotted a pigeon fluttering frantically as it hung by one of its wings from a tree branch, stuck in quite a substantial length of kite "Manjha" (thread). Even as I tried to think of how to rescue it, I was disheartened to see that the pigeon was already wearing itself out by circling desperately. Suddenly, I saw a lithe figure sprint along the jagged edges of my building's boundary wall, and slowly inch up to the catastrophic branch. After patiently winning the trust of the pigeon and managing to gently clasp it in his hand, Sudama the nearby building's watchman; gingerly made his way down the tree. He then calmly spent time snipping away the deadly "manjha" from the pigeon's wing joint. After tottering around for a while and regaining some strength; Sudama and I were enthralled to see the pigeon fly away. In this self-indulgent city, it was so refreshing to witness this selfless act. Sudama didn't win any accolades for it and neither did anyone give him a standing ovation, but I am sure that his kindness has touched the heart of our Creator, as it did mine.
